Be DOERS of the WORD

James 1:22-24 (NASB)

22 "But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves.

23 "For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror;

24 "for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.”

…It's not enough to sit in the church pews every Sunday and listen to the preaching, BUT do not to put what you've heard and learned into action.

…It's not enough to read the Bible and listen to gospel music if you don't follow the God’s teachings.

We become phony and allow deceit to control our lives when we do not practice what we declare to believe. We are like a man who forgets what he looks like, if we hear the word but do not put it into action. When a man "forgets what kind of man he was," it means he has no single idea who he is or what God made him to be; it means he is unable to define himself, and as a result, he is incapable to identify God's mission and intent for his existence because he is not aligning himself with practicing GOD's Word.

“Hearers-only” of the word take a quick look in the mirror but do a little change on what they see. They have no idea who they are in Christ. They have no intention of obeying God’s command and they have no desire to correct an ungodly flaw in their own lives. They easily forget what they’ve been told.

“Hearers-only” deceive themselves by living according to their own interpretation and self-made value systems rather than the values stated in God's word.
